To understand the role of women in building a happy home, we must first recognize the purpose for which we were created. In the book of Genesis, Eve is described as a helper suitable for Adam. This signifies that women were designed to support and complement their husbands in the context of marriage and family life.
As Christian homemakers, we have the privilege and responsibility to build our homes based on biblical principles. Our goal is to create an environment where love, respect, and godly values thrive. By embracing our role as helpers, we can contribute to the overall well-being and happiness of our families.
Being a homemaker, doesn’t mean that women can never work outside of the home, but what I am emphasizing it that our primary ministry is our home/household & family.
Wisdom in Love: Unconditional Love and Availability
One of the foundations of Christian homemaking is love. As women, we are called to love our husbands and children unconditionally, just as God loves us. This love should not be based on what we receive from them or the circumstances we find ourselves in. Instead, it should be selfless and sacrificial.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

In building a happy home, we must make ourselves available to our husbands and children. This means being attentive to their needs and desires. To fulfill this role, we must cultivate trust and open communication within our marriages. We should be willing to listen attentively, offer wise counsel, and pray for our husbands. By being a trusted helper and wise counselor, we contribute to the strength and unity of our marriages.
Wisdom in Speech: Words of Encouragement and Kindness
The power of our words should not be underestimated. As Christian homemakers, we should use our words to build up our husbands, children, and families. We should strive to be women of grace, speaking words of encouragement, affirmation, and kindness.
Proverbs reminds us that a wise woman opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness. Our words have the power to bring life or death, so we must choose them wisely.
